Nerida is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Sex Therapist with over ten years clinical experience. Nerida holds a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours, a Masters in Clinical Psychology, a Masters in Science in Medicine (HIV, STIs and Sexual Health) in counselling, and a Graduate Certificate and Masters in Forensic Mental Health. She is a full member of the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPI), the Society of Australian Sexologists (SAS), and the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS).
Nerida works exclusively in the areas of sex and relationship therapy. She presents as warm, genuine, and empathetic. Her relaxed nature creates an environment where clients can feel comfortable to share their concerns. She starts her therapy with a thorough assessment and works with clients to develop a treatment plan. Nerida uses a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Sex Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Gottman techniques, and mindfulness to help her clients achieve a healthy and satisfying relationship. By attending sessions with Nerida clients may improve communication, repair a relationship after an affair, improve relationship satisfaction, and create a more fulfilling sex life. She provides clients with practical tools they can use to work on their relationship after therapy.
Nerida tailors her treatment according to the needs and goals of each client, and sees her work with clients as a team effort.
Aside from her clinical work, Nerida also enjoys supervising other psychologists and sex therapists to build their knowledge and skills around sex and relationship therapy. She has also assisted to establish a sexual health peer support group where she regularly presents to local clinicians on sexual health topics. Nerida is passionate about sharing her knowledge and skills and enjoys running professional development, webinars, and presenting at conferences.
